California Trip–The Way Home

The next morning we woke early, checked out, and went to Grandma’s one last time. Dad and Sue and Raymond were there, and we visited for about an hour before we had to hit the road. I burst into tears when it was time to go.

The trip back was a lot more stressful. Again, let me say San Jose was an EASY airport. That was good because I’ve never returned a rental car ($82 for 4 days!) and we couldn’t check in online because we didn’t have a printer, so we had to check in at the airport. But it was easy. However, at the last minute, they made Fred and Josh check their duffels. It wouldn’t have been terrible except I forgot to get my laptop out and was stressed about how well it would travel. Then when we got to Dallas, it was dinner time by CA standards, but all the restaurants were closed! I ended up eating McD’s, and the guys were the last served at a Chinese place.

We got on the packed plane to San Antonio, were in the air just a few minutes, literally, and were reunited with our luggage a few short moments later. We called my step-dad and he dropped us off just after midnight. LONG day! Poor Fred had to work the next day! I slept until 10 and THEN took a nap! Also, lots of laundry. But I’d do it all again in a minute!
