California Trip, Saturday

Saturday I woke up early, and not wanting to bug Josh and Fred, I slipped out with my netbook to the McD’s. Fred met me there around 8, and we went to breakfast, then to the RiteAid and then to the classic car show in the park. Finally Josh got up and we went to Grandma’s. We ate salad before heading to Janice’s in Atascadero. The photographer was coming at 2:15 though the party wasn’t until 4. We each had a shot of tequila, then took a ton of pictures.

Here’s me with my cousins, minus one.

I was under the impression Saturday was the casual party and Sunday was the dressy one, so I wore my new safari shirt and khakis, though everyone else dressed up. Sigh. But after taking pictures in every permutation—families, cousins, siblings—we went inside and cooled off. The party started in earnest—enchiladas and tamales and rice and beans and fruit. Delicious! We couldn’t get near Grandma, though.

My cousin Gayle and Grandma:

Her nieces and nephews were there, and kept her busy. We spent a lot of time out on the deck visiting, especially Aunt Barbara, Aunt Janice and cousin Greg and his wife Hanne.

The boy, and the view:

We got back to the motel earlier this time.

Yeah, his expression didn’t change much 🙂 Until we left–he teared up.

You would love it. Very gorgeous, lots of hills. Tricky driving, though! I’m glad we didn’t take the Scion!
