My mom and I have this tradition. Every year I compose a countdown list to the end of school. Every day I email her the list. I started with 15 Days Left, 15 Things to Look Forward To. I include different places to go to breakfast, to go shopping, as well as simple pleasures, like eating breakfast on the back patio and taking naps.

Here’s the thing. I’m running out of things! I need about 15 more ideas! I think I’ve included every restaurant that serves breakfast, every craft store, staying up late…I’m out of ideas! Help! What do you look forward to in the summer?

I'll double the pffft to Kris.I still have a month but the main thing I look forward to is endless time to read whatever I want. So maybe something like 12 days – 12 new to me authors or 12 books for fun. Some of my favorite summer things – fruity drinks, lazy summer evenings, quiet, picnics, seafood, long walks, the beach (though any time of year at the beach is good), easy time with my daughters, ice cream, freedom. I also look forward to the time to plan ahead for the next year – come up with new projects, themes, etc.Hope that helps.

Here are some things I look forward to:Lots of light–early in the morning until very late in the evening.Watching the day fade, absorbing the feel that is uniquely summer.A sense of community that comes from people being outside, unbundled–even though I don't normally interact with them.Could combine a couple of those–sitting on the porch/in the yard, watching the world go by.Oooh, summer movies! Summer TV, like Leverage. Guilt-free laziness, though I don't do too much of that, because my work isn't seasonal. 🙂 Outdoor concerts. State or local fairs. Fireworks. Visits from long-distance family. Finishing big projects.Any of that help?
