Snow and Movies

Yesterday Robyn Dehart blogged about five movies she really thought were terrible. (One was Watchmen, which I quite liked.) My list is very different. And I couldn’t confine it to five.

I HATED Land of the Lost. I loved the show as a kid, but the Will Farrell remake was atrocious. Didn’t make it through half an hour.

Another one I found pretty ridiculous was Mad Money. I turned it off and sent it back.

The Haunting of Molly Hartley. Trust me. Awful, awful movie.

My Best Friend’s Wedding–what an awful awful heroine. (I don’t like Pretty Woman, either.)

Serendipity–stupid concept. “If it was meant to be…” Whatever.

Legends of the Fall. Depressing, depressing movie.

Speed Racer. Dude, what were those animators ON?

The Happening. How about NOTHING WAS HAPPENING?? Argh.

We don’t acknowledge Indiana Jones 4, the last two Matrix movies or the Hayden Christiansen Star Wars movies.

So what are some movies you hate? Do you find any on my list redeemable?

We saw snow flurries yesterday when we were coming back from lunch. Too much sleet mixed in, but the kids were excited.

I haven't seen everything on your list but I have to agree with you on the Star Wars flicks- hours of my life I will never get back. The second and third Matrix movies were okay but nothing like the first one. The only good parts of Legends of the Fall are Brad Pitt and the bear as I thought the movie was slow and boring. I only liked Indiana Jones 4 for the sentimental return and Shia LeBoeuf (thought he was good in it).

I didn't see most of the movies on your list, and have always been glad for it. 🙂 The last batches (mostly sequels), I wouldn't call any of them great but they were still fun and worth seeing, some multiple times.I really liked My Best Friend's Wedding, though, especially because of the way it ended. Guys get to be antiheroes all the time! I thought Julia Roberts did a good job being both unsympathetic and identifiable. :)I can't list any movies I hated! I don't know why. Maybe I'm choosier or more tolerant, or maybe I just forget about them when they're a disappointment. 🙂

The only movie I ever walked out on was "The Gods Must Be Crazy" — I realize it's critically acclaimed, but I thought it was the stupidest movie EVER. Didn't like "My Best Friend's Wedding" either, but the scene in the restaurant where they sing the Dionne Warwick song had me in tears, it was so funny.I agree with Michele that "Legends of the Fall" was boring and really quite pointless, IMHO. I don't watch a lot of movies, though, so can't add much more! In fact, I don't think I saw ANY of yours except "MBFW".

Oh, I thought of another one I LOATHED–The Family Stone. Those people were TERRIBLE to each other. I despise that movie.Shia is a good little actor, but seeing Indy all old, and then ALIENS? Ugh.

No, you're right, The Family Stone was horrible! But I'd never have independently remembered that movie existed, so there you go: I block them out. LOL

Natalie, I think the reason I HATED MBFW (other than I'm NOT a Julia Roberts fan) was that I had a friend do the very same thing as Julia did, and it destroyed friendships/people chose sides, very painful.I've never seen "The Gods Must Be Crazy" but my dh loves that movie. All I remember about Legends of the Fall was that I loved Julia Ormond, and didn't she kill herself? CHEERY.We won't talk about how I felt about Message in a Bottle. Almost broke my TV over that one.
